I spent four years as a Miami-Dade prosecutor learning how to investigate cases and take them to trial. I've spent fifteen using all of it to defend people like you. I know how the State thinks — because I was on that side.
I was born and raised in Miami, the son of hardworking parents. I grew up bilingual in English and Spanish, so I understand where you come from and what you're going through.
I always knew I wanted to be a defense attorney. But first I spent four years as a prosecutor in Miami-Dade: I started in the DUI division, then juvenile, and I was the first in my class to move up to serious felonies. I finished as a founding member of the mortgage fraud unit, investigating complex financial crimes.
In 2011 I opened my own firm. Since then I have taken more than 50 cases to trial and handled over 5,000 in all. I know exactly how the State builds a case against you — because I used to build them.
Today I also teach criminal procedure at the University of Miami and train police officers. In federal court I'm a CJA panel attorney, appointed by the judges to defend federal cases.
I won’t hand you off to an associate or an interpreter. I handle your case myself.
When someone calls me the night of an arrest, they're scared. The first thing I tell them is the truth: the arrest is the worst part of the process. From the moment I step in, things only get better.
It is usually a long process that takes patience and trust. My job is to carry the worry for you — so you can trust me and let me handle it, without scare tactics or drama.
To me, you're not a case number. My clients are friends I help through a hard time, and I treat your case the way I'd treat my own family's.
